Super Mario KartEdit
The first game in the series, released in 1992 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. With 8 racers and 20 tracks, it set the basis for the sequels.
Mario Kart 64Edit
4 years later, Mario Kart 64 is released for the Nintendo 64, with two new racers (Donkey Kong and Wario), new Items (Blue Shell, Banana Bunch, Golden Mushroom, Triple Green/Red Shells), and 20 all new tracks with new 3D graphics.
Mario Kart Super CircuitEdit
The first handheld Mario Kart, so it is a minor setback naturally in the improvements, with decreased Items, but Super Circuit features the most tracks of any Mario Kart game (not including DLC of Mario Kart 8), with 40.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!Edit
This new Mario Kart featured unlockable racers, karts, and more importantly, two racers could race in the same kart. The graphics are now even more advanced.
Mario Kart DSEdit
The second handheld game, with returning unlockables, and, aside from Super Circuit, retro tracks are now set as a standard for the subsequent games. Also, it is the first game where online races can be played.
The best selling Mario Kart yet, Mario Kart Wii introduced new characters (including custom Miis), tracks, items, tricks, wheelies, and great graphics. Also, the Wii Wheel is packaged with the game and can be played with motion control.
Mario Kart 7Edit
Another game for the DS family, Mario Kart 7 allows vehicle customization with different bodies, wheels, and gliders. Also, karts can now go underwater fast with propellers. Not to mention the 3D graphics granted by the 3DS.
Mario Kart 8Edit
The latest of the series, and has the most up to date graphics ever. With the most characters to choose from yet and anti-gravity introduced to the Mario Kart world, Mario Kart 8 is simply great. The game is the introduction to characters that are not from the franchise to be playable in Mario Kart.
Mario Kart 8 DeluxeEdit
The upcoming installment of the series. The game is an upgrade to Mario Kart 8. The game is now playable on the go due to this version being o the Nintendo Switch. The game includes all the DLC items from the Mario Kart 8. It has new battle modes, 5 new characters, 4 new vehicle parts, and 4 new battle courses. It has a new feature named Smart Steering which protects players from falling off the edges of the track. You can also hold up to two items at once. The game is the introduction of Splatoon-themed characters to the franchise.
